Carston’s Christmas Memorial Bench

We purchased a memorial bench for Carston at the holidays and had it placed at a pond where we fed the ducks.  It reads,

Carston Wayne Kownack

I thought of you with love today but that is nothing new
I thought about you yesterday and days before that too,
I think of you in silence I often speak your name
All I have are memories and your picture in a frame
Your memory is my keepsake with which I’ll never part
God has you in His keeping I have you in my heart.

Love you always, your family

  1. Amy, you continually enter my thoughts throughout every day, and every day there is also something that reminds me of Carston. His name regularly comes up in my conversations with Kaitlyn and she always refers to him as, “my friend Carston”. We keep his photos posted in the house and I have one in my office that I look at every day that also includes Cameron and Conner.

I hope that laughter and joy are re-entering your life, although I know that there is a void that will never be filled. I am praying for lots of good days ahead for all of you. Know that I am here and that I love and care about you very much. xoxo, Cheryl

  2. Hey Amy we are thinking of you, we still think of Carston everyday In fact Caden asked to talk to you today because he missed Carston so i thought I would post here. Please call if you get a chance

  3. Hey Amy - The kids and I read The Very Hungry Caterpillar last night. Nick wanted to eat all of the food on the junk food page, and my ever-serious Katie wanted the two pears. We thought of Carston while we read it, and I think of you every day.

I hope there are days when you can think of Carston and smile and on those days you can’t - just know you are surrounded by so many people who love you.

    Love - Mary

  4. Hi Amy - you continue to amaze me. I love the tree and the bench - they are so generous and show the amazing courage you possess. I know Carston is so proud of his mommy. I think of you often and pray that you find strength and comfort from those around you. I hope to see you soon.

    Love, Kelly

  6. Amy,

It was so hard to hear you in such pain this morning. I am at a loss most of the time in feeling confident about what it is I should do? I want so much to make you feel better, even if it is only for a brief moment.

Tommy has been talking to me about Carston lately, and although I have yet to tell him what has happened, he is obviously thinking of his buddy. He tells me that he misses him and I don’t have the heart to tell him just how much we ALL miss him!
I am so glad that Tommy has such an amazing memory, because he is never going to forget him. I asked him what his favorite thing was about Carston he said, “That he likes me and likes to play matchbox cars with me. And of course, I like him too. ”
I am going to talk with Tom tonight and figure out a time to come out in the next month.
I think of you constantly and pray for you everyday!
    I love you!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Cher

  7. Amy,
I love how you are remembering Carston with his tree and bench. He is your sweet little angel to help you through these very difficult days. He will always be with you. Know that your friends and family love and care about you and are here for you as you go through another “first”. We all love you very much.
    Connie
