We are absolutely heartbroken to give the tragic news that little Carston, just 4 years old, died August 1, in Texas.
Carston’s mother, Amy, and her fiance, Mike, have traveled today to Texas where Carston and his older brother Conner were staying while Amy was away comforting close family members who lost loved ones.

Amy, Mike, Cameron, and Conner-
I am so sorry, words cannot describe how I feel right now other than to tell you what a precious spirit Carston was. His beautiful smile would light up the room, what I fondly remember most was our last trip out and how kind and sensitive he was to Tatum and Jillian for that matter. This just doesn’t seem fair, and I can only pray for all those who will suffer the loss of this beautiful child. I love you Amy- and will be here for you every step of the way.
Kristy
Amy, Mike, Cameron and Conner, We are so deeply sorry for the loss you are suffering. What a beautiful angel he must be. The lives he touched while he was here for such a short time amazes me. His light was so strong he could light up the night. Please know we will be here for you and your family always.

I am at a complete loss to find sufficient words to tell you how deeply saddened I am. I can not begin to imagine your intense and griping pain at this horrible tragedy. Carston was such a beautiful little boy and we will miss him terribly. Tommy loved his buddy and I am so glad they got to spend some great times together this spring.
I will be in AZ on Wednesday for several days to be with all of you. I love you and will be praying that God provides you with strength to somehow, someday get through this.
I am so sorry Amy!

My heart hurts knowing that my little neighbor is no longer going to be across the street saying hello when i come home. Watching Carston grow up, from being a baby changing his diapers, to becoming a wonderful little boy was an honor for my mother, father and I. We all love him and he will alway remain our hearts. Amy, if there is anything you know that my mother, father, and i was right across the street. We love you guy. shibee Carston.

Our whole family is so fortunate to have had the pleasure of meeting sweet little Carston. We only wish we had more time to really get to know him.

Dear Amy and Family,
My prayers go out to you at this tragic time.
I am so deeply sorry for your loss.
Dearest Amy,
For this moment, I know you are buffeted by all the normal human reactions to such an incomprehensible shock. I also know that you are deeply grounded in your spirituality and that eventually you will be able to draw on your deep convictions about eternal life and the comfort and blessings available to all souls when they look beyond the physical illusion. I’ll be holding the space of calm acceptance for you until you’re ready to take it over.
In the meantime, here are some words from Julian of Norwich that have provided comfort for me in difficult times: “He did not say ‘You shall not be tempest-tossed, you shall not be work-weary, you shall not be discomforted’. But he did say, ‘You shall not be overcome.’ God wants us to heed these words so that we shall always be strong in trust, both in sorrow and in joy.”
Hugs and much love,
Savannagh
Amy, my dear friend, Carston’s beautiful spirit will continue to live in your heart and your soul. I pray for peace to wrap around you as you grieve this horrific loss, along with Cameron, Conner, Mike and all of your families. I am so, so sorry, Cheryl

Patrick & Family,
We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of such an amazing young man. We drove home on numerous occasions laughing about what Carston had done that day: beat me in a race (due to the new fast shoes), locked the keys in the truck (although he said that was Patrick’s fault), stole the cereal back from Duke, and beat me up when I challenged him to a fight. Carston was such a delight to be around and we feel fortunate that we were able to share in a small piece of his life. We will truly miss Carston and his smile.

Dear Amy, Mike, Cameron, Connor & the Doyle Family
If love and and thoughts could take away the pain, yours would be gone… we know thats not the way. Please know there are so many praying for all of you in NJ, and thinking of you. God needed a special little guy and Carston was His choice. Amy, he is safe and will live on in you forever. Your dad was there waiting for him, and they are both watching over you now. You are all in my prayers and I wish you strength to somehow get through this. Auntie Kim, we’ll be here for you when you come home..
Love and strength to all of you… Mary Kim
Dear Amy and Families, please know you are being sent our love and prayers. Please include ours also. Love to you and all of your families ..Steve and Debra Rock.
Dear Amy, Mike and family - We are very saddened by this tragic news. We are praying for the day you will look back and remember something funny Carston did or said and you will be able to smile through your tears and recall the joy and laughter Carston brought to your lives. Amy you have always been a great friend to me over the years and I just wish I could be there to hug you in person. Love, Debbie and Walter Hansen

Carston was one of the happiest boys I have ever met. I instantly fell in love with this sweet, fearless, little boy, just a few short weeks ago. He was such the little helper and loved hiding in the feed barn to scare us. He also attemped to stick the cat in the barn toilet a time or two until we explained she didn’t like it to much. Thursday we spent the morning talking about reptiles and he called them all lizards. By the time I finished telling him all I knew about reptiles and which ones I thought were the coolest he had 3 he was for sure going to get for his birthday.
I will never understand why he is gone but I will always remember him.
My heart goes out to his entire family….

Amy and family,
I was so very saddened to hear about Carston. The pain you all must be feeling I can not imagine. For two years I had the joy of teaching and playing with Carston. In that time he went from being quiet and shy to a confident, outgoing boy with a great sense of humor. He was a friend to everyone.
May God bless you and keep you in his heart.

Patrick & Family,
We are very sorry for your loss. We really enjoyed getting to know Carston. Everytime we think of Carston we will see him running through the pasture after us to go ride the horses; he always wanted to ride with Cheryl on Haley, his daddy’s horse and would be smilig from ear to ear. We will miss seeing him at the barn. Kolton will miss his little riding buddy; Kolton thought Carston was a real cowboy…
Our thoughts will be with Carston’s entire family.

“I’ll lend you for a little time a child of mine,” He said. “For you to love the while he lives and mourn when he is dead, “It may be six or seven years, or twenty-two or three, “But will you, till I call him back, take care of him for me?
Amy,
I read this poem some time back and it has always stayed with me. Our children are such a gift and they will forever be a part of us. As mothers, we would die 10 times over for our kids without a doubt but that is not always our choice to make I guess. Who knows why this tragedy had to occur. Our house is still tonight as we try and process this. Amy and boys, our prayers are with you in this time of grief. Pleas know we are here for what ever you need.
Sincerely,
Your Neighbor and Friend,
Belinda Daw & Family
Dear Amy,
We were blessed to know your sweet Carston through the ICRP. We are forever grateful to have known your handsome, caring, kind little boy. Carston was very patient and forgiving with our son Oliver and his other classmates. I can’t tell you how many times I watched him happily give another child a toy he had first, simply because he knew the child wanted it. Oliver could always count on him to deliver his fair share of trains, even if it meant giving him his own. On the playground I watched Carston carry a large truck up the stairs so Oliver could roll it down the slide (over and over and over). He did it because he knew it made Oliver happy. He was gentle, yet very playful with his classmates. He was the child we all want our children to play with. He lived as an example to others.
I am so very sorry about the loss of your sweet son. I can’t imagine the pain in your heart. We wish you and your family peace and comfort.
Sincerely,
Jim & Jennifer
I met Carston a couple of weeks ago, when I was out visiting my horses, and he was the friendliest little boy I had ever met. He told me his name and we talked about some of the things that he enjoyed and how he liked to ride horses too. He was so full of life and always had a smile on his face. When there was a job to be done, Carston was there helping. I didn’t know him very long, but I enjoyed every moment that I spent talking and playing with him. Seeing him out at the barn always made my day, because i knew he would have something fun to talk about. I am so sorry for what happened, and you and your family are in my prayers. We will all miss him, he was an amazing little boy. I will always remember him and i wish the best of luck to yall.
Sincerely,
Missy
Dear Amy and family,

Oh Amy, I can’t begin to imagine how you must be feeling right now. You are such a beautiful spirit I have no doubt that Carston had that same spirit. Please know we are all here for you and you are loved and supported.
Dear Cam, We are so sorry to hear the news about your brother. Di called us here at the cabin.
You may not be aware that as a young boy, I also lost my sister. She was 13 mos. old and I was 8. While I have not had exactly your experience and no one ever will, I do have a very strong understanding of what you are going through and what you may experience in the future with your emotions. Perhaps sometime in the future we could talk a little if you feel comfortable with it.
The death of my sister has had an enormous effect on my life. I deeply regret being robbed of our time together, but at the same time , it has caused me to appreciate the time I have with my own kids, nieces nephews and god children much more than I think the average guy does. Some good has come out of the whole event. Would I change it if I could go back and make the difference, absolutely yes, but it doesn’t work that way unfortunately.
Cam, you know we all think alot of you and our heart is with you and your entire family.
We all missed you here at the Lake this summer and we are hoping that next year you can be here with all of us again. We have had fun, but it all would have been even better if we hadn’t missed you.
If you want to talk or e mail us, we are at lmsheff@bellsouth.net and our phone is 561 865 0925.
I emailed your Mom on her personal e mail. I hope she is going to be o.k.
On behalf of Amy, Nicole, Bodie and Monika, I would tell you that we are also members of your extended family and we are with you. Loren
Dear Cameron,
I heard and i can hardly believe it, and how hard this must be on you, I can’t really get how terribly sorry I am for you and your mom, i simply can’t find words that hold the meaning.
I am so so sorry for what has happened.
I hope to see you soon,
Nicole
My dear friend Amy & family,
I am so truly sorry for this tragic loss. I know I cannot understand the depth of your pain, but I do know that you are SO loved by so many. Surround yourself with the love of your family and friends and more importantly the love of God. We are praying daily for all of you!

Dear Cameron and family,
You don’t know me but I know Diana from meeting her at Living Word. Two nights ago I saw Diana at church and she told me about what had happened to your little brother Carston. I can’t even begin to imagine what you all are going through. After I went home and told my wife, she began crying as well. We have a four year old daughter and the thought of losing her would be crushing. Our hearts go out to you and your family. Although it’s hard to be comforted right now, please be comforted in knowing without any doubt that Carston is in heaven right now – and because you have chosen to make Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior you will see him again! Years ago I made a huge decision - to believe that the Bible is true. I’ve since discovered that it is the only real true source of truth that we have. Everything else is just some man’s opinion. The Bible tells us that we are a three part being – we are a spirit, we have a soul (our mind, will and emotions), and we live in a body. When our natural body dies, our spirit and soul live on – and move to one of two places – heaven or hell. While there is much more to learn about this, my point is that after your time on earth is complete you will spend the rest of eternity with Carston! So although you have to say goodbye to him, it is not ‘Goodbye forever’…..just ‘Goodbye for now, I’ll see you later when I get there!’
God has a huge plan for your life Cameron. He loves you so much and will always be with you to help you. Learn more about Him – and as you do, He will unveil a life so exciting and fulfilling it will blow your mind. I hope to meet you sometime when you are in Minnesota. God bless you Cameron!

Amy,
I was so sad to hear the news about Carston. I really can’t imagine anything more painful or sorrowful than the loss of a child. My heart goes out to you and your family, and I hope that you can draw strength from all the love, support, and prayers that are dedicated to you.
Cathy
Dear Amy,
I am so sad to hear about the loss of your son. As a mother, I cannot imagine what you are going through right now and my heart goes out to you and your boys. Keep the joyful memories of Carston in your mind so your heart can heal.
You are in my thoughts and prayers

Amy and family,
I don’t know what to say to try and console you at this truly tragic time. Carston was a beautiful little boy with sparkling eyes and rosy red cheeks that could capture your heart in an instant. I don’t know what else to say but that I have you in my prayers and no matter what; I will be there if you need me. You allowed me to be a small part of your beautiful son’s life and for that I am thankful. Amy, I am forever your friend and I pray that you find some small comfort in knowing that Carston is in heaven where all angels are truly destined to be.
Amy, we have all been stunned to hear of your loss and none of us can begin to imagine what you are going through. There is no greater tragedy than losing a child, and that is compounded many times over when the child is as young and innocent as Carston. We hope that you can gain some small solace from treasuring his memories, and that you will be able to focus your love and attention even more intensely on your other children, even as keep Carson alive in your thoughts.
Please know that you have love and support from all of us as you go through this. You are in our thoughts, and we will always remember Carston. We know that his life was full of joy, even though it was oh so painfully short.

Amy –
You and your boys are forefront in our hearts and daily prayers. Some souls, like Carston, pass through our lives like a gentle summer rain. They touch our hearts and then, return to heaven once again. Even as we mourn with you, we take comfort in knowing that Carston continues to live in the hearts, thoughts, and memories of all those that he touched. Please remember that you have friends who care for you and are anxious to do whatever may help.
Love,
Cathy, Scott & Julia

Amy,
Although you don’t really know me and my family, my kids Trevor and Brooke remember sweet Carston from when we would visit “Aunt Kim”. Kim is my sister and informed me of your tragic loss. Our prayers are with you and your family. Leilani, Steve, Trevor and Brooke in California

Amy,
I was so very saddened to hear of the tragic loss of your sweet, beautiful angel Carston. I went home from work after you called and shed many tears, just as I am right now.
It seems like just yesterday I was at his baby shower, while you anxiously awaited his birth. He had such a beautiful room ready and waiting for his arrival home. I would imagine it’s the same in heaven. God has prepared a very special place for your sweet boy. A beautiful, peaceful and joyful place in Heaven.
Although he left you much to soon, may you be comforted in knowing that you are in the thoughts and prayers of many who grieve with you. Remember and be proud of the fact that while on this earth, Carston was blessed to have such a loving mother in you, Amy. God Bless.
Kathy
